ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ at Salem horticulture students recently helped Associate Professor Chris Carlson take the first step toward creating a series of themed gardens on the grounds of the Salem Campus by designing a butterfly garden. The students conducted soil testing and site assessments prior to designing and planting the new garden, using specially selected plants that will flower and attract butterflies.   1. Purpose. A student group wishing to register will complete a registration form and submit this information to the Center for Student Involvement.

    1. Review. While this review is in process, the requesting group may schedule space for a maximum of two organizational meetings or informational activities pending official registration status.

University policy regarding formation of student organizations

Purpose. The university is committed to the belief that students have a right to organize and participate in groups whose purposes center on the interests and goals of the individuals involved. Experiences in the areas of interpersonal relationships and decision-making related to the operations of the organizations can be vital learning tools and as such are to be encouraged. In order to implement this commitment, the university encourages students to form student organizations in accord with administrative policies and procedures established for this purpose.

Administrative policy regarding discrimination by registered student organizations

  1. Policy. Every student organization registered and approved by the university is expected to be free to select its membership upon the basis of individual merit. Any student organization selecting its membership upon the basis of restrictive clauses regarding the protected categories provided for in rule 3342-5-16 of the Administrative Code, will be considered to be operating in conflict with university policy.
