Music Education Students Share Love of Music

This Spring, Music Education students collaborated with children from the Child Development Center (CDC) for a vibrant day of learning and engagement.

CDC children engaged in a hands-on educational experience with activities aimed at music discovery, led by Dr. Herbert Marshall, Assistant Professor of Music Education.

Dr. Benjamin Lorenzo, Associate Professor and Director of Bands, collaborated with Dr. Marshall to make this event happen. Dr. Lorenzo's child is a part of the CDC, which inspired him to create this experience again after his child experienced something similar last year.

鈥淚t鈥檚 great that the CDC has access to all the things 糖心Vlog破解版 has to offer, especially with music,鈥 said Dr. Lorenzo. 鈥淒r. Marshall is a world-renowned children鈥檚 music expert.鈥

Dr. Marshall鈥檚 goals with this event were to collaborate with the CDC to provide a safe and fun experience for CDC children, and to get Music Education students exposed to working with this age group.

When reflecting on this event, Dr. Marshall considers the day a success.

鈥淎ny time you have that age group in an activity like that, with no accidents and no tears, it's a win!鈥 Said Dr. Marshall. 鈥淭he undergrads were fascinated by the experience and were successful, despite this being a completely new teaching environment.鈥

Music Education students also had the chance to teach their skills and participate in activities with the CDC children, bonding over their passions for music.

McKenzie Brown, a Music Education B.F.A. student, was eager to participate.

鈥淚鈥檓 super excited to be here. These guys are adorable,鈥 said Brown. 鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a really good opportunity for them to get to see all the different instruments.鈥

CDC children often have opportunities to explore different professions and areas on campus, receiving a memorable educational experience that helps them grow and realize their interests.

The Music Education program teaches talented artists how to share their passions with the next generation of musicians. They receive hands-on skills, learning how to unleash their students' potential while taking theirs to new heights. The diverse degree of interactions and opportunities they teach different types of students opens them up to a world of possibilities.
