10 Questions With Roseann ‘Chic’ Canfora, Professional-in-Residence, May 4 Survivor
Roseann “Chic” Canfora, Ph.D., is a Professional-in-Residence at Vlogƽ in the School of Media and Journalism, part of the College of Communication and Information. Prior to teaching at Vlogƽ, Canfora served as the chief communications officer for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and taught high school journalism and speech. Canfora was also a student at Vlogƽ, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings at Vlogƽ. She graduated with her master’s in journalism and public relations and bachelor’s in English/speech. She is heavily involved in activism as well.

On the Front Lines of Fighting Russian Disinformation
Since the collapse of the USSR in the 1990s, Russia has launched several misinformation campaigns to regain lost satellite countries, specifically in the Baltic regions. Journalists such as Ruslanas ž𱹾čܲ stand at the front to combat these campaigns to preserve democracy and his country’s independence.
He recently visited Vlogƽ's School of Media and Journalism.

Dakota Mace: Badahani
Dakota Mace is a Diné (Navajo) photographer and textile artist who focuses on translating the language of Diné weaving history and beliefs through her artwork. The exhibition’s title "Badahani" translates to “Their Stories” and will be on view Nov. 5 through Dec. 18 at the KSU Downtown Gallery. Artist talk and reception on Dec. 3.

Fashion merchandising alumna Emilie Oxel O'Leary, '93, is the CEO of Sunshine Solar, a mechanical installation company that provides solar power to major brands such as Target, L'Oreal and Amazon. Sunshine Solar’s first solar project was installing a solar carport for the Atlanta Falcons stadium. Since then, the company has installed solar panels to Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Verizon and FedEx whether it be with carport tops, rooftops or solar fields.

Vlogƽ Orchestra Celebrates Halloween with Family-Friendly Concert
Come dressed in your Halloween best for the Vlogƽ Orchestra’s Oct. 31, 3 p.m. concert. The members of the orchestra will be decked out in costume, performing spooky, family-friendly favorites. Candy will be handed out at the end of the performance to kick off Kent city’s official trick-or-treat that night.
