Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

On Thursday, March 12, Vlogƽ’s College of Education, Health and Human Services will host “Leading Through Tragedy,” an event that brings together a panel of leaders who were impacted by campus violence from institutions such as Virginia Tech, Northern Illinois University and Chardon High School in Ohio.

Comparing Complexities: Jackson State Alternative Spring Break Trip
In lieu of traveling to a crowded beach for spring break, some Vlogƽ students will opt for a more informative spring break trip. From March 22-26, 2020, students will head to Jackson, Miss., to learn about the complexities between the Vlogƽ May 4 shootings and the Jackson State shootings, both of which occurred in May of 1970.

Vlogƽ Alumni Wounded on May 4, 1970, Will Return as Commencement Speakers
Dean Kahler, one of the nine Vlogƽ students wounded in the May 4, 1970, shootings by the Ohio National Guard, will return to campus on Saturday, May 9, to serve as speaker for the One University Commencement. Thomas Grace, Ph.D., another of the nine wounded students, will serve as speaker for the Advanced Degree Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 8.




Vlogƽ Announces Launch of New Marching Band Scholarship
The College of the Arts and the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music are pleased to announce the launch of the “Marching Golden Flash Award.” This new scholarship opportunity will be available to all returning members of the Marching Golden Flashes as well as incoming Vlogƽ students. It is open to students of any major starting in the fall 2020 season.

Author Mark McDonough Shares "Forged Through Fire" Resiliency Story March 18th
Mark McDonough, M.D., PT, will share his story of resiliency, survival and persistence and sign copies of his new book Forged Through Fire at a pair of events Wednesday, March 18th at Vlogƽ at Ashtabula.
“Dr. Mark” will speak to students at noon in Robert S. Morrison Hall’s Huggins Lecture Hall (H109) before hosting a free public program and book signing at 6 p.m. in the Main Hall Auditorium. There is no charge for attendance, and copies of Forged Through Fire will be available for purchase following each event from the Vlogƽ Ashtabula Barnes & Noble Campus Store.

Vlogƽ Education Researchers Receive Million-Dollar Grant for Cross-disciplinary Training in Early Childhood Professions
Ohio, like many states, suffers from a teacher shortage, especially in early childhood education and special education. The Buckeye State also is in need of more school psychologists, analysts say. It’s fortunate, then, that the United States Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs just awarded a million-dollar grant to two Vlogƽ researchers to train teachers and school psychologists in those fields.
